INTERCESSION (Standing in the Gap)
Intercession is the role of bridging that gap—prayers that can’t be answered because sin stands in the way.

Prayer is simply speaking to God in the most straightforward terms. One day, the disciples asked Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray.” — Luke 11:1
Jesus didn’t dismiss the request or say, “Just talk to God—figure it out.” He taught His disciples how to pray. One important part of prayer is INTERCESSION.
What Is Intercession?
Intercession can be described as “standing in the Gap.”
What “gap” is this? Think of it like a chasm—a separation that keeps a prayer from reaching its answer.
God clearly addresses the reason prayers can be blocked: “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save… but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you.”
— Isaiah 59:1–2
So what is the gap? Three letters: S-I-N.
Sin is disobedience to God and living a self-centered life instead of a God-centered life.
Are There Prerequisites for Intercession?
Yes. Intercession is a privilege of a child of God—someone who has crucified the flesh and walks in the Spirit.
Step 1: Confess your own sins.
Before you pray for others, deal honestly with your own heart.
Step 2: Ask God to reveal anything blocking prayer.
Before requesting a need, ask God to show you sin/sins (offences) standing in the way.
Step 3: Become an intermediary through the Holy Spirit.
Cry out sincerely for the forgiveness of sins—not just for one person, but for people, communities, nations, and situations as the Holy Spirit leads.
Remember: it is the CROSS of Jesus and His blood that brings forgiveness.
Step 4: Pray for the need and submit it in Jesus’ name.
Bring the request to God the Father in the name of Jesus.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it to you.”

Who Should You Intercede For?
Intercede for:
- Your home
- Your job
- Your family
- Your needs
- Your workplace
- Your community
- Your peers
- Your region, state, nation
- And anything the Holy Spirit places on your heart
A Call to Intercessors
Intercession allows God to intervene in a world where the enemy, the devil, seeks destruction and pain—while a Good and Holy God seeks to heal and save.
God needs you.
As His child, you’re called to intercede—today.

Faith Over Fear!
“The men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?” — Matthew 8:27
Life will always bring moments that shake us — moments that feel like a boat tossed violently on the waves. When circumstances slip out of our control, fear creeps in. It’s the fear of the unknown, the fear of what might happen, the fear that our worst thoughts could become reality.
Those feelings are human. But for a child of God, they are never the final word.
There is Someone in your boat — in your life — who is greater than every storm, stronger than every wave, and who sees the end from the beginning. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but your God already knows. And He is good. He is light. In Him, there is no darkness at all.
Jesus asks us the same question He asked His disciples:
“Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” — Matthew 8:26
Fear whispers lies, but faith anchors us in truth. Faith in an all-powerful God must rise above fear planted by the enemy. God has promised — He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Consider Peter. A seasoned fisherman who understood the dangers of the sea better than anyone. Yet in the middle of a storm he knew could drown him, he looked to Jesus and said:
“Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” — Matthew 14:28
And Jesus answered, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat — and walked on water.
That is faith over fear.
Today, make Peter’s prayer your own: “Lord, if You tell me to go, I will go. I will face my fear and overcome it with faith in You.”
